Storm Chasers

Watch out for Storm Chasers

Storm season is hitting the midwest right now. There are high winds, tornados, and hailstorms on the horizon for many communities. Storm chasers stay right behind the storms and just ahead of the law. Don’t fall for a company that’s going to leave you high and dry.

There’s a reason why we’ve been in our community for 26 years now. We’re a local company and we want to help you if storms blow into town. We’re very well-educated about how the insurance process works for homeowners. We can work with your insurance company and adjustors to be another set of eyes for you.

There are some great insurance companies out there, but it’s always nice to have a roofing contractor you trust to go with the adjustor to the roof. Sometimes the adjustors are busy with all the storm claims, so they might not be able to explain everything to you. The reports are highly detailed, but we can sit down with you and explain deductibles, depreciation, and replacement cost value.

We had a little hailstorm here but it didn’t hit much of the area. It’s unfortunate, but once a big hailstorm comes into town, shady companies from out of state come in to take advantage of the available work. When the work’s gone, so are they. They won’t be there to fix any problems that might arise for homeowners. They might be ten states away, and from what I’ve seen over the years, they really don’t care.

If you don’t want to fall for a shady company that came from another state, pay attention to the truck’s license plate. Out-of-state plates are a big clue. It’s sad, but a Texas or Minnesota plate might mean that they’re greedy and they realize that the homeowner needs assistance.

Slow down and do your due diligence, even if you need something done immediately. Call a local contractor first, check them out on the internet, or look them up with the Better Business Bureau. If the company is based out-of-state, don’t check the BBB listing in Iowa. Check them out based on the state/town they came from.
