Bakeris Roofing, an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor

Bakeris Roofing is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, a preferred contractor with the shingle companies. This means our installers have taken the shingle manufacturers’ testing and become certified installers. It also means Bakeris Roofing has met their rigorous business standards.

An Owens Corning Preferred Contractor must have been in business for at least three years and must be a member of the Better Business Bureau with at least an A rating. Bakeris Roofing has an A+, and we have been in business for over 20 years now. Our financial statements also meet their criteria: they have made sure we have a strong financial foundation. They know we pay our suppliers in a timely manner. And they know we’ve never filed for bankruptcy. They’ve made sure we’re a strong, legitimate roofing company doing business the right way. If we were ever to have a problem with any of the roofs we’ve installed, they’d back us up, because we’re a preferred contractor. They’ve made sure we’re going to be around to take care of any problems down the road.

So, what does that tell you? Number one, our installers are trained. They’re not just being picked up off the street and thrown onto your property. Number two, it lets us give you, the homeowner, a warranty far beyond the standard one. Every shingle company has a standard warranty on their shingles. But since Bakeris Roofing is a preferred contractor, we can take them beyond their standard warranty and get a labor and material warranty for the homeowner, too.

Typically, a standard warranty for shingles and materials prorates everything out after the first ten years. For the first ten years, they cover the labor cost if something goes wrong with their shingles. But at the eleventh year, they drop the labor coverage. They only cover the cost for new shingles after that – another 40 years is the standard for architectural shingles. However, when you deal with a preferred contractor like Bakeris Roofing, the warranty goes beyond that standard warranty: you get more security and more warranty.

It hasn’t been free for Bakeris Roofing. We’ve had to invest in being an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor. But we think the cost has been minimal, given how far down the road it’s taken our business. Now, we’re covered by Owens Corning, GAF, CertainTeed, or whatever shingle manufacturer that we’re using. It’s another benefit we can offer the homeowner: the peace of mind that we are a preferred contractor.

They don’t let just anyone become a preferred contractor. You don’t get it just by paying a fee. You go through a full interview with the shingle companies, actually two interviews, before they even look at the business end and your financial statement. They want to make sure you are doing what a legitimate contractor needs to be doing: that you’re licensed and registered with the workforce, and have general liability insurance and workman’s comp. They check all those things out before they give you this accreditation. You’ve got to have a great track record and a clean bill of health.

If you need some roofing done, whether it’s something minor or something major, let the professionals at Bakeris Roofing take care of it for you. You can call us if you have any questions, at 515-967-8199.
