“What It’s Like to be a Female Working at Bakeris Roofing”

As one of the two females at Bakeris Roofing, the first word that comes to mind is ‘interesting’. When I came from Principal Financial Group, there were mostly women in the office. Bakeris Roofing is a completely different environment, but the change was definitely for the best.

Dawn and I try to keep things lively. I would probably consider Dawn to be the mother here at Bakeris Roofing. She keeps the guys on their toes and makes sure they keep their promises to customers.

Jeff is a wonderful boss—he gives praise when it’s needed, makes sure that we’re taken care of, and gives us the tools we need. He is truly one of the best bosses I have had. He understands that Dawn and I are working in a male-dominant industry. In that sense, he is very supportive to us as women in this field of work.

There is a different mindset from men and women, especially working as a crew of laborers. They are very hard working men, and they don’t fit the stereotype common with this industry. The people here at Bakeris are very sweet individuals. They will go above and beyond for customers—I have seen them hang Christmas lights for an elderly woman. The caliber of person that I have seen here is unique from what I would see on a different workforce.

Jeff makes sure that the best of the best work here. When I first started working at Bakeris, my husband was a bit apprehensive, since I was coming from an office of mainly women to a field of mostly men. My husband and I attended a customer appreciation for Bakeris shortly before starting my first day of work. After my husband met the guys, he completely changed his mind.

The caliber of men hired here at Bakeris really sets the bar. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with. I would be very comfortable to welcome anyone from the Bakeris team to my home. I trust them with everything that I have.

Gentleman are hard to find these days. Dawn and I usually don’t do much heavy lifting. If there is a case of paper we need to carry in, the guys are always willing to help carry it or open the door for us. They have even shoveled the sidewalk to make sure we don’t have to walk through the snow.

If you have any questions about Bakeris Roofing, or you are interested in any of our services, give us a call. I look forward to seeing how I can make you smile.
