Signs that The Roof Needs Work
If you’re walking around your home this February, there are a few signs you should pay attention to that might indicate that your roof needs repair and it’s time to call Bakeris Roofing. Maybe you heard Santa Claus’ loud footsteps on your roof. You might notice some torn shingles or fallen granules. When you start to see granule deterioration from the shingles to the point that it has left debris in the gutter, it’s a very good sign that your roof is approaching the end of its lifecycle. It might be a good idea to start budgeting for a new roof.
On rare occasions, the shingles may be new and simply defective products from the factory. Most of the time, however, the shingles are just worn due to age. Once granules have fallen from the shingles, you’ll notice black patches that are clearly not organic growth such as algae. It’s normal for shingles to exhibit minor granule loss every year, but once it reaches the point that black patches are clearly visible and the granule debris has accumulated in the gutter, that means that either it’s getting close to the end of it’s lifecycle or it’s still fairly new and simply a defective product.
If you’re in doubt about whether your roof is reaching the end of its lifecycle, call Bakeris Roofing at (515) 967-8199. We’ll be able to tell you exactly what the situation is and what you can do about it.
