Bakeris Roofing Has a Drone!

The team members got a drone for Bakeris Roofing to use. The process to use one is actually pretty involved: if we take it to someone’s house, it’s considered commercial use. To use a drone commercially, you have to get a license to fly it. That’s one of the things that we’re working on right now so we’ll be ready come springtime. I’m not going to be the only one with a drone license. One other person in the office (maybe Stacey) will get a license so they can fly it too.
I thought all you had to do is get some practice at home. Well, apparently not everybody wants a drone flying around their house, so you have to get permission first. Right now we’re able to give you a bird’s eye view with our tablets, but we want to be able to take some video shots both during and after the whole process. The applications for a drone are pretty cool once you’ve got it figured out.
We look forward to becoming licensed drone pilots by the time spring rolls around. It’s another way that we can show the homeowner their roof and all the things that are going on up there. Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be able to see it without going up there themselves. While you don’t have to get up on the roof to see the siding, it’s still best when you can get a good view of everything. Drones are very cool and the advancement of technology sure is something.
