Preventative Roof Maintenance

There’s some important preventative maintenance that we can perform on your roofing system. Number one would be making sure your roof is clear of debris. It’s not good if branches, leaves, or other objects sitting on your roof. We also make sure that your gutters are clear of debris so that when it does rain, snow, sleet, etc., (or whatever is going on in your area) all the water will flow off the roof and go into the downspouts. You want it to go away from your foundation.
If anything is clogged up, it will overflow and water will go either over the front of the gutter or sometimes even behind the gutter. If it goes over the front of your gutter, it’s going to fall close to your foundation. Too much water at the foundation of your home could lead to water in the basement if you don’t have a sump pump. If the water goes behind the gutter, it could actually destroy your fascia board.
There are some commercially available products you can use to keep your gutter clear. A lot of people make the mistake of buying some type of gutter cover. If it’s pushed under the shingle, it will void the manufacturer’s warranty. We have a product called Gutter Rx, which actually attaches to the inside of the gutter and the fascia. (It’s not installed under your shingle.) Gutter Rx does a good job of keeping debris out of the gutter. You won’t have to go up on the roof to dig leaves out of the gutter anymore, which can be dangerous.
We also offer membership in the Overhead Care Club, where we go to your home and perform an annual roof inspection and clean out your gutters. If you have any questions about preventative maintenance, including what is offered in the Overhead Care Club, contact us today.
